Join me at me at my
Summer Day Retreat
at Belcombe Court, Bradford on Avon

10am - 5pm
Ruby’s Summer Day Retreat.
If your mind had a “pause” button, wouldn’t you press it?
Join me at my Summer Day Retreat for a day where you can finally step out of the mental spin cycle (you know the one—same thoughts, different day) and into something a little more… sane.
The Venue
Set in Belcombe Court, a beautiful private country manor house that’s usually off-limits to the public (because obviously they were waiting for you), this retreat will gives you permission to stop, breathe, press the pause button and spend a summers day getting to know your mind better and learn more about what’s actually going on inside your head.
Belcombe Court
This place is really special to me, I’ve been coming here for years and I’m very grateful that I have been given the opportunity to share it with you. You’ll have time to meet the resident sheep (who I’m happy to introduce you to), wander through enchanting gardens, explore the woodlands, hidden follies, and there is even a shell house (because why not?). Think secret corners, quiet moments and the smell of summer flowers. You will get to experience the kind of peace that makes you realise how loud your brain usually is.
The Food
Lunch will be served by the Head Chef of Belcombe. You’ll be treated to a long-table feast of fresh, seasonal, and nourishing dishes, all locally sourced and utterly delicious.
I’ll teach you how to tune into your senses, which means actually tasting your food instead of inhaling it while your brain replays your entire life story, so for once, your mouth and your mind are in the same place at the same time.
The Programme
Throughout your day with me, you’ll start to recognise your “theme tunes” those greatest hits your brain plays on repeat. We’ll explore your thoughts, your emotions, and the stories your mind makes up without asking your permission.
Today’s world is bringing us more anxiety and worry than ever before. I’ll teach you how to train your mind, the neuroscience behind your thoughts, and you’ll learn a new kind of fitness, mind fitness, one designed for your mental health. I’ll talk you through how to notice what’s real anxiety and what’s just your mind telling its usual stories.
The Neuroscience
I didn’t just wake up one morning, have a herbal tea, and decide I was “zen” (if only). I went to the University of Oxford to actually understand what on earth is going on inside our heads, because frankly, mine was running the show, and not in a good way.
What I learned through neuroscience is that your mind isn’t trying to ruin your life; it’s just doing its job a bit too enthusiastically—like an over helpful intern. The brain is wired to spot danger, which is great if you’re being chased by a tiger, less helpful when it’s just an email.
The Retreaty Bit
Throughout the day, I’ll be guiding you through a series of workshops designed to teach you how to train your mind, understand what your emotions actually mean, and be more compassionate towards yourself.
I’ll also be joining you for a wild swim dip in the hand-built natural pool (yes, they have one of these, and it’s wonderful). Those who know me well, know I prefer an ice bath to confession—it’s quicker, less laborious, and you come out feeling absolved.
I’ll be right there with you, guiding you through the hot and cold, showing you how to calm your mind while your body is busy wondering why on earth you agreed to this.
What You’ll Learn
I’ll teach you how to understand the mechanics of the mind, why thoughts loop, why fear shouts louder than logic and you’ll begin to train yourself to stop taking everything your mind says as gospel.
That’s why I lead from science, not fluff. Because when you see how the brain actually works, it’s not personal, it’s neurological, and that’s a huge relief. It means you’re not broken; you’re just human… with a brain that occasionally needs a bit of training.
The Goal
To figure out when your mind is being useful… and when it’s basically just making things up to keep itself entertained.
And don’t worry (because we always do), this isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about giving you the tools to navigate life with a mind that never stops.
What You’ll Leave With
By the end of the day, you won’t float off into the clouds claiming enlightenment…
but you will leave with something
much more useful.
A clearer understanding of how your mind works
The ability to spot when it’s talking sense or nonsense
Mind Exercises you can actually use daily in real life
The beginnings of a more compassionate relationship with yourself
You’ll leave with a toolbox techniques created and used by me to tame the mind.
In other words, you’ll leave with a bit more space in your head—and a bit more kindness for the person living in it.
…and possibly slightly pruney fingers from the wild swim.
Please come and join me, it’s going to be fabulous.

What Rubys retreat guests say:
“What made the day special was being surrounded by people who understood what it feels like to run on empty. There was such warmth, humour, and honesty in the room. I came away feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected, like I’d finally given myself permission to breathe again.”
“Ruby’s true life experience makes it easier for us who also experience mental health issues to be accepting , honest and resilient, I loved all of her workshops and stories at the retreat, she’s a true Mental Health advocate.”
“I’m all about the science so I very much appreciated when Ruby explained scientifically what was happening in the brain and why. I learnt so much about the way I speak to myself, so now I’m working on a little bit of self love, thank you Ruby for a day I’ll never forget.”
